Steve- Regarding your "kool-aid" comment on SpencerBlog. You've got it backwards.
Bush supporters were the ones drinking the kool-aid that the war would pay for itself, that deficits don't matter, that you can pay for a war with tax-cuts, etc.
The CORE support for Obama (and I speak from experience, having giving ALL the Dem primary contenders consideration) comes from him articulating the ideas, visions, and solutions that we have been calling for the past 8 years.
The Dems are FOR tax-cuts, but the difference is that WE believe they work better when targeted to the middle class, not the top 1%. Trickle-up vs trickle down.
The Dems are better at providing education and job training to the poor and people that have lost jobs due to factory closings.
The question come down to bang-for-the-buck. Do you get a better return on tax-dollar investment spending $billion for an extra Air Force, or for building a few dozen schools.
Clearly, you need some jets and some schools. If you have X-dollars, what percent do you spend on what types of projects?
Obama's message, and voting record, matches him up with the solutions the Dems feel are needed.
It's really as simple as that.
As for experience, in Oct 2007, McCain claimed that Romney and Guili-9/11 weren't qualified because Governor and Mayor weren't good enough.
Obama has shown leadership, discipline, calmness under fire, vision, decision making, and an incredible grasp of tactics and strategy in the very way in which he has run his campaign.
He's earned the respect of leading economists, as well as diplomats, world leaders and even many top people from our own military.
He's got a game-changing perspective on how we deal with foreign governments, and is looking to end the same old policies that continue to fail us.
He understands the importance of repairing and rebuilding our neglected infra-structure as well as updating our economy for the 21st century.
Tossing all that aside, Obama's got a better record on civil rights (which have eroded under Bush administration).
Obama's been the first Democrat in a long time to clearly explain the what and the why of the Democratic party ideas and ideals.
dave, let's take it to its simplest terms. Obama has, what a 3 year record on anything national politics? And the 1st or 2nd most liberal voting record? he doesn't play well in the sandbox, my friend, and the fact thjat there are so many mesmorized by this guy is downright scary.
The democratic party blew it when they decided not to convince Mark Warner of VA to make a run for President. He would have been a solid choice, someone I would have been behind. Instead, we're going to have 4 more years of a running joke in office.
I hate to say it, but if I had my choice of all th contenders again, I'd go Romney. But that was, what 9.5 months ago?
"He's got a game-changing perspective on how we deal with foreign governments, and is looking to end the same old policies that continue to fail us."
Yeah, the same policies Europe has used for years. Real "game changing." Kind of like a suicide squeeze when the batter shows bunt before the pitch. Lets not even get into how worthless those policies have been with Iran and Russia. How long has France and Germany been trying to talk down Iran? It was definitely before Bush came to office, that's a long time, and what's the result?
"Obama's message, and voting record, matches him up with the solutions the Dems feel are needed." Obama's voting record is the most liberal of all senators. How does that match him up with the rest of the party? If it did, he wouldn't be the most liberal voting senator.
"The Dems are better at providing education and job training to the poor and people that have lost jobs due to factory closings."
Really? Why are we worried about the quality of education in our universities today compared to other countries? I mean, the Dems are the ones who have been running it for 30+ years. Enough time to make improvements. I guess nobody in the US can think of a plan that is as good as other countries? I don't buy that at all.
"Obama has shown leadership, discipline, calmness under fire, vision, decision making, and an incredible grasp of tactics and strategy in the very way in which he has run his campaign."
When has Obama even been "under fire?" The toughest question he's faced so far was about his relationship to Ayers and he lied in his response. If everyone got a free pass to answer with any lie to any question, everybody would be great "under fire" cause there's truly no fire.
What about his "forgetfulness" about Russia having veto power? How to you show an "incredible grasp of tactics" when your own tactic will backfire in 2 seconds on you?
In regards to his tax plan. There's been sign offs by 5 economic nobel peace prize winners saying his plan is horrendous and will cause a massive depression. Maybe Obama should wake up and listen to people who didn't cause the financial crisis.
Then again, we are speaking about the man who proposed a 90 day moratorium on home foreclosures after saying in February that this idea (brought up by Hillary) would be "disastrous." So I guess 8 months later it is all of a sudden a good plan?
The problem here is nobody wants to use Obama's true record for anything and nobody will use any of his quotes for anything. Obama not knowing Russia has veto power is a more grave issue than Palin not knowing what kind of magazines she reads. Which got more airtime? Palin. Absolutely ridiculous.
The man's record shows he's voted 96% with the left - classifying him as a "rank & file" democrat Per the Washington Post's system (Yep, been out there before Obama declared). Again, I asked, was the other 4% by accident? He's clearly the type that doesn't come to agreements on capitol hill, I shouldn't expect anything different in the White House.
I've given you facts form the "Skeptical Optimist" to clearly show how increased tax burdens on the wealthier do nothing more than give middle class a 'feel good' feeling. Of course, whatever it takes to identify yourself with the majority of the voting public, right?
Obama has shown leadership, discipline, calmness under fire, vision, decision making, and an incredible grasp of tactics and strategy in the very way in which he has run his campaign. HOW??? Where was he during the bailout crisis? The man did nothng except ONE FUCKING PHOTO-OP IN BUSH's CABINET! Absolutely nothing - other than to blame John McCain for the problem (Despite attempts to regulate a few years back, BLOCKED by the left, happily leading to the present mess). I equate that to voting "PRESENT" in a difficult time - sound familiar? The man shits himself in difficult times - best of luck to the rest of us.
And this is why I like Zo's video so much, free thinker who doesn't need to follow the bandwagon or the mainstream media, an individual who doesn't need to be pressured to go with the crowd, an individual who has true beliefs and refuses to compromise on them. We're not buying what Barry O's selling (if he even is)
Steve- You are missing the point. It's not "kool-aid" if liberals have had these ideas long before anyone heard of Obama. A "kool-aid" argument would be if we were mesmerized and changed our positions. Romney and McCain hate each other. I would have liked to see them working together awkwardly, and have the Obama campaign count up all the houses on that ticket.
BTW, congratulations. I think you now have more comments for the past week than Spencer.
Jonas- Obama does NOT have the most liberal voting record. The National Journal made that original claim based on their selection of votes for 2007. Obama's overall Senate score is not the most liberal, and the National Journal is not the sole arbiter of this question. But, of course intellectually dishonest people like yourself quote absolutes out of context.
BTW, McCain is one three senators without a ranking for that same 2007 listing because he missed more than half the votes.
"When has Obama even been "under fire?" Since the campaign started. Where have you been? You've got assholes like Randal claiming he's a secret Muslim, not a citizen, etc.
Palin's a big, giant ZERO. Even William F. Buckley's son has endorsed Obama. The choice of Palin was so irresponsible that is essentially disqualifies McCain. It you want to claim that Palin is qualified, then you are either an idiot or a liar.
I agree with most of what you say regarding Obama. I just don't agree with the way your comments come of as if his s*$t don't stink and he's a great candidate for president. To be honest, I'll probably vote for him. I think it's worth a shot (I think they are both jokes as candidates).
I don't think he can lower taxes for 95% of American's, so if it doesn't happen, I won't be raising fists about it. If he does, lets see where it takes us. I don't feel 1 way of handling the economy is always correct, so lets move away from Reagonomics as maybe it's day has passed (maybe it'll come back in 30 years).
My reading of your post came off as he was a polished, knowledgable, ready to be president candidate (like a non-controversial Gingrich). I personally don't feel he is there. He's very good at public speaking. But when he's starts bumping Snoop Dogg (known Crip) at his rallies and bobs his head to it, he loses his "polishedness" that comes off in his speaches. President's need to be themselves but they also need to come off as professional. That is far from it. You wouldn't (neither would I) want your clients seeing you doing that, or at the Borgata with a 22 year old hottie around your shoulder as it just doesn't come off right.
Jonas- I think Obama's got the best shot of anyone making a dent in the politics as usual run by the lobbyists. How much of his plans will survive getting through Congress is anybody's guess. But, I believe he will make a serious try at the core issues that are hurting the majority of Americans.
His ability to raise money with small donations from millions of people is strong enough that he can cut himself off from the lobbyist money in the future. They have little leverage if he doesn't need their money to get re-elected (though they could certain fund his rivals or legislators).
Will he cut the lobbyist out? Maybe. But, he will be in a good enough position where it would be possible. I'm hopeful that they will have the least influence over him than other presidents.
As for the stuff with Snoop Dogg or other unscripted moments, I think he comes off as a more regular guy, rather than some stiff born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He's lived in the poor and middle class most of his life. I think he "gets it".
Every one of Obama’s Radical Liberal Socialist schemes will sail through Congress with two fellow Rad Lib Soc’s in running that joint.
Much of Obama’s money has come from foreign –therefore illegal- source. Maybe some terrorist money paying to see him become our next president.
Forget silly “lobbyists”, Obama is beholden to far more powerful Radical Liberal forces. MoveOn… ACORN… Environ kooks… All the ones that came out of the woodwork looking to get their radical agenda implemented when the Donkeys took Congress. They will have more power and influence than ever under an Obama presidency. And the foreign influences… Let’s talk about these Lib lobbyist groups.
Obama has at times let his polished facade down and let slip his homieness as he’s gotten jiggy with his brothas. Some continue to point out that he is half white -as if this changes anything- while he has shown he can be plenty black when he wants to be. He himself has said he identifies more with his black side. It shows.
You well know all this, DDD, so stop lying to your friend. There’s no one else here. It’s rather insulting of Steve how you seem to view him as a dope who can be swayed by your childish lies and spin. Whadaya see S as your little project to sway one vote?
I never commented on this vid… Nothing in what the guy said was really all that “Right”, S, so I don’t know why you’d say he was more right than you. Most of what he said was just the truth and common sense …which, when compared to all the Far Lib attitudes out there that have been foisted on society, just makes it seem Right. Kinda like how FOX News isn’t really Right, it’s just been vilified by the haters on the Left who keep repeating that lie. To them anything that doesn’t bark the Lying Lib line is “Right” and they set about trying to silence it or turn others off to it. This, just exactly like how Dishonest Dave calls everything I say “racist” in a dishonest effort to steer others from my views once he was unable to underhandedly have me silenced.
Hey, S, how can I get the link for this vid and the Elmo one too?

Man, Dishonest Dave even lies to his "friends".
Dude, there's no one else here, you can stop the lying spin. It's really rude to lie to Steve like that.
No wonder you have no real friends.
